Snapdragon 820 powered Samsung Galaxy Note7 thinks big with intelligent tech

Yesterday Samsung unveiled their latest groundbreaking creation—the Samsung Galaxy Note7. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, the Galaxy Note7 is Samsung’s most intelligent smartphone to date, fusing revolutionary new features like biometric iris scanning with the computational vigor and flawless performance needed to produce a five-star user experience.

If eye-based biometric scanning sounds revolutionary, that’s because it is. The Note7 is built on the secure foundation of Qualcomm Haven—a hardware-based (not cloud-based) bulwark that includes data safety. Just because the biometric scanner is advanced doesn’t mean the degree of difficulty is, too. Galaxy Note7 owners need only to look at the phone’s iris scanner to unlock it. They can also use the iris scanner to make secure mobile payments.

As Qualcomm Haven is engineered to help lock down all of your sensitive information on the Galaxy Note7, Snapdragon 820 is hard at work behind the scenes facilitating a premier mobile experience. Inside the Note7, for example, the Snapdragon 820 custom-built Qualcomm Kryo CPU is designed to provide double the performance and battery efficiency compared to the previous generation. At the same time, the Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU is engineered to deliver a 40 percent improvement to graphics performance and power efficiency when compared with the Adreno 430. Along with complementary technologies, like the Qualcomm Hexagon 680 DSP, the integrated, advanced GPU and CPU support 4K video capture and playback on the Galaxy Note7, as well as 240-fps slow-motion video.

With video on lock, what else do you need? How about Hi-Fi audio? Thanks to the Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec, your studio-quality audio is piped in using built-in amplifiers that keep your audio clear and loud while reducing outside noise and distortion.

Snapdragon 820 also includes support for Galileo, the European Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) on the GALAXY Note 7 in select regions. With additional support for Galileo on top of other GNSS constellations like GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, QZSS, and SBAS, users will be able to benefit from more than 80 different satellites in the near future when calculating global position for navigation or location-based applications. The addition of another GNSS is intended to provide more accurate location performance, faster time-to-first-fix, and improved robustness.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 is expected to be available starting August 19, in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.
