Qualcomm Adreno Neural Fusion breaks the AI-graphics tradeoff with new hardware accelerator

Qualcomm-image

What you should know:
  • Qualcomm introduces Adreno Neural Fusion, an AI-driven rendering technology that unifies neural processing, AI super resolution and frame generation into a single graphics pipeline — delivering higher visual quality while reducing rendering costs and power consumption.
  • New Adreno Matrix Cores bring AI-dedicated GPU cores into the graphics pipeline for the first time, paired with 18MB of Adreno High Performance Memory (HPM) to keep AI workloads local, lowering latency and extending gaming sessions.
  • Adreno Neural Fusion is supported across Unity and Unreal Engine, letting studios adopt out-of-the-box image-quality and performance gains without custom implementations — ultimately helping games on Snapdragon-powered devices look better, run faster and consume less power.

Mobile gaming has spent a decade asking for three things at once: console-grade visuals, frame rates that never flinch and a battery that survives the whole session. For most of that decade, you picked two.

Qualcomm’s new approach to mobile rendering is changing that equation. By combining AI, dedicated silicon, and advanced memory architecture, Snapdragon is helping deliver higher visual fidelity, smoother gameplay and greater power efficiency than ever before.

Introducing Qualcomm Adreno Neural Fusion

Adreno Neural Fusion is an AI-driven rendering technology that combines neural processing, AI super resolution and frame generation into a unified graphics pipeline. Designed to transform how scenes are rendered and enhanced, it helps games deliver higher visual quality while reducing rendering costs and power consumption.

Here's the part that matters when you're actually holding the phone: compared to previous solutions, Adreno Neural Fusion delivers exceptional image quality with significantly reduced artifacts, improved frame stability and consistently sharp detail.

Historically, mobile upscaling has come with compromises:

  • Fine details could shimmer.
  • Fast-moving objects could leave behind ghosting artifacts.
  • Images often appeared softer than native rendering.

Adreno Neural Fusion is designed to minimize those tradeoffs, preserving detail and motion clarity while helping games run more efficiently.

Adreno Matrix Cores: the new GPU silicon powering Adreno Neural Fusion

Our next generation of flagship platforms, take performance and power efficiency even further with the introduction of Adreno Matrix Cores: AI-dedicated GPU cores designed to run advanced AI models directly inside the graphics pipeline.

This is a first for Adreno and a major milestone in Qualcomm's AI roadmap. Adreno Matrix acceleration now spans every major processing engine across the platform: NPU, CPU, and now GPU.

By keeping AI workloads inside the graphics pipeline, developers can run increasingly sophisticated rendering models with lower latency and reduced power overhead. Neural work no longer has to leave the graphics pipeline to get done.

Adreno HPM: on-chip memory built for fast AI rendering

Fast AI requires fast access to data.

Building on the improved power and efficiency of Adreno’s three-slice GPU architecture,  Adreno Matrix Cores are paired with a dedicated optimized cache of 18 MB of Adreno High Performance Memory (HPM), integrated into advanced Adreno GPU platforms.

HPM provides large, low-latency memory directly to the GPU, allowing tile-based rendering, frame buffers and compute workloads to remain local to the graphics subsystem. The three-slice, near-memory design keeps intermediate results on-chip instead of repeatedly accessing system memory.

Fewer data transfers mean lower latency, higher efficiency and longer gaming sessions, the kind of architectural advantage players may never see but can immediately feel.

AI super resolution supported where developers already build

For developers, adoption matters as much as performance.

Adreno Neural Fusion is the first mobile AI super resolution technology of its kind supported across major game engines and is commercially available, enabling developers to integrate advanced AI-enhanced rendering into existing workflows.

Unity. Unreal Engine. Already integrated.

Studios can take advantage of out-of-the-box image quality and performance improvements without building custom implementations or waiting on future engine roadmaps. Developers can focus on creating great experiences while leveraging AI-powered rendering capabilities already built into the platform.

When you build games with Adreno Neural Fusion, you gain access to flagship GPU performance, AI-powered rendering and engine-level support that's already in place. That means the ability to deliver richer graphics, advanced lighting and higher image quality on mobile without creating bespoke rendering solutions from scratch.

What Adreno Neural Fusion means for mobile gamers

As more titles adopt Adreno Neural Fusion, Snapdragon-powered devices will benefit from improved image quality, smoother gameplay and more efficient performance. The goal is simple: help games look better, run faster and consume less power.

Adreno Neural Fusion delivers high-quality upscaled images, stable frame rates and improved efficiency through AI-enhanced rendering built directly into the Snapdragon graphics pipeline.

For years, mobile gaming forced players and developers to choose between visual fidelity, performance and battery life. Adreno Neural Fusion is designed to make that tradeoff a thing of the past.

This is the next chapter of mobile graphics, powered by AI and built for Snapdragon.

How does Adreno Neural Fusion keep AI rendering fast without draining the battery?

The trick is keeping the work close to the silicon. Adreno Matrix Cores handle AI models right where the graphics happen, and the 18 MB of Adreno HPM holds the heavy data — tiles, frame buffers, compute — on-chip so it isn't constantly shuffling back and forth to system memory. Less movement means lower latency and better efficiency, which translates into gaming sessions that last longer.

What's next for mobile AI processing on Snapdragon?

We see this as the start of a broader shift, not a one-off feature. With Matrix acceleration now reaching across the NPU, CPU and GPU, AI-processing is becoming a platform-wide capability rather than something bolted onto a single component — and that sets the stage for what comes next.
