Meet Snapdragon Wear 1100—the processor behind your next wearable tracker

From fitness to healthcare to entertainment, more than 100 wearables are now powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ solutions. That number is expected to grow thanks, in part, to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 1100 processor. This power-efficient processor, which includes integrated 4G LTE and next generation Qualcomm IZat location technology, is designed for targeted-purpose wearables, such as connected kid and elderly watches, fitness trackers, smart headsets, and wearable accessories.

Snapdragon Wear 1100 not only includes the latest location technology allowing it to sync with all four satellite constellations (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo), it’s engineered to do so securely with hardware-based security to provide secure location. Kid watches and elderly wearables that incorporate geo-fencing technology for safety monitoring applications can count on the Snapdragon Wear 1100 to accurately track that which is most precious.

With support for voice, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, the Snapdragon Wear 1100 is designed to help ensure a seamlessly connected mobile experience. It includes an integrated application processor supporting Linux and RTOS software platforms. The global multi-mode 4G LTE CAT 1 modem supports data transfers speeds up to 10Mbps, and works with most networks including LTE FDD, LTE TDD, TD-SCDMA and GSM.

The Snapdragon Wear 1100 is available now and a numbers of companies announced products based on it at Computex, including a power-efficient tracking bracelet developed by Fynd (editor's note: this company was formerly known as WeBandz). Based on a SurfaceInk reference design, which incorporates the Wear 1100, the bracelet is easily adaptable for kids, adults, and even pets. The Aricent ADAPT (Adaptable Technology) wearable platform is also powered by the new Snapdragon Wear processor and is a solution designed to allow OEMs to build wearables with modular features that support two-way voice, fitness tracking, and messaging.
