A note on Qualcomm: Why CES makes us proud

Qualcomm-image

Every day, people use Qualcomm® technology. It’s embedded within millions of devices, helping us share photos, stay on the right roads, and keep in touch with one another wherever we are.

At CES, when the tech industry turns its attention to Las Vegas for a few days to take in the latest innovations, Qualcomm is everywhere too. We’re represented by our booth, our press conference, and our panels. More important, we’re represented by the valued and forward-thinking companies we’ve teamed up with to deliver the cutting-edge, great-performing devices that they launch at CES.

At a personal level, the most exciting part of CES for us each year is the enthusiasm we see on the faces of show attendees as they get a first look at the new technologies we’ve developed and possibilities we’ve inspired.

That was especially true at this year’s show. It would be impossible to explain in just one post everything Qualcomm got up to at CES 2016 (though, we can try), but for us, one highlight was the range and diversity of automotive solutions from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. From collaborating on the Audi Q7’s second-generation modular infotainment system (MIB) to debuting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 Automotive processor family, it was fun to showcase the hard work Qualcomm Technologies has put into driving the future of connected cars

We were also proud to help introduce the Letv Le Max Pro smartphone—the first in the world to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor. Featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology, Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 3.0 [corrected 1/15/2016], and 802.11ad connectivity, the Le Max Pro is a perfect example of Qualcomm’s versatility and scope.

Pushing forward with these innovations and powering the future of technology is in our DNA as a company of inventors. Steve Mollenkopf, Qualcomm’s CEO, spoke about that core tenet during our CES 2016 press conference. We are an essential accelerator of innovation—one of the few companies capable of bringing together technologies and creating platforms that help an ecosystem of companies build compelling products and solutions for the consumer.

The Internet of Things and Smart Cities discussions were getting bigger than ever.

We see these companies at CES proudly displaying what they’ve built with us, and we appreciate that as a validation of our mission to build the future.

What you see at CES are new products and services, new technologies integrated into the Internet of Things—technologies that connect us to the people and things we care about. Technologies capable of making bus schedules more accurate. Technologies capable of letting your coffee maker know when you’re getting up to have a fresh pot of ready for you before you even step foot into the kitchen. And technologies make us better drivers—and to do the driving for us.

It’s hard to believe CES is almost over. Our hope is that you’ll take away an appreciation not only of what’s possible, but also of how far we’ve come. And as for Qualcomm? We’ll keep walking the floor with our eyes toward CES 2017.
