Sneak Peek at Activision’s Skylanders: Trap Team

Activision’s $2 billion console game franchise, “Skylanders,” is celebrated for bringing toys to life inside a video game. This October, Activision will be releasing their newest version, Skylanders: Trap Team, simultaneously on console and for the first time on high-end tablets such as those powered by Snapdragon 800 series. This is the first time they will be bringing the entire console experience to tablets, complete with the Traptanium portal that doubles as a stand for your tablet and includes a built-in Bluetooth controller for a true console experience on your tablet. Watch the video for a sneak peek of live gameplay from Activision's Skylanders: Trap Team for Android.

Live Demo of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor won’t be in devices until 2015, but Talluri brought a mobile development platform equipped with a Snapdragon 810 processor to give a sneak peek of its realistic graphics capabilities. The demo included real-time rendering of a high-end car with the ability to change paint colors and materials that have unique lighting textures.

3D Camera with Pelican Imaging

Talluri showed off a mobile development platform tablet equipped with a Snapdragon 800 processor with an array camera from Pelican Imaging. The camera is about the size of a typical single element camera you would see on a tablet, but it is able to capture depth information at every pixel. By being able to produce an image with a depth map, your camera becomes a much more powerful tool. Talluri demonstrated how you can scan objects in 3D, capture/replicate their 3D structure before sending it all to a 3D printer.

Robot from Brain Corporation

A robot from Brain Corporation was also demonstrated, running their latest Brain Corporation OS. They showed off the robot’s ability to do obstacle avoidance as it entered an environment it had never seen before and navigated it without hitting any objects. They then demonstrated advances in natural interaction, training the robot naturally by simply making arm gestures.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense™ Audio with Shazam

Talluri also demoed Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense Audio’s ability to always listen for audio (at very low power) and be contextually aware of what the user wants. In the past, Qualcomm Technologies has demoed Snapdragon Voice Activation, which allows user to tell their mobile device to do something at all times, even in standby. Today, Talluri showed a version of the popular music recognition app, Shazam, where the app leveraged the music detection feature of Snapdragon Sense Audio music to feature always-on music recognition.
