Put your hands together for the July 2023 Snapdragon Insider of the Month: Bhaumik Bheda (@BhaumikBheda1 on Twitter and @bhaumik_bheda on TikTok and Instagram). 👏
Bhaumik is a talented photographer and a big fan of devices with Snapdragon. Let’s see what he has to say about being a part of the global Snapdragon Insiders community.
What sparked your interest in technology?
I have always been into smartphones and, over time, that interest extended more into computers and computational work, which is what I do right now. It was back in 2013 or 2014 when I got my first smartphone, and that's when I started getting more into photography and learning more about cameras. It's been a journey.
In 2016, I got the OnePlus 6 with the Snapdragon® 845 mobile platform. That was my first device with a Snapdragon mobile processor. Since then, I've continued to use devices powered by Snapdragon because they can handle a lot of power-intensive applications.
What’s your current device powered by Snapdragon?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra — it’s really popular and I got a good deal, so I couldn’t miss out on it.
How did you get involved with the Snapdragon Insiders community?
I started getting involved with the Snapdragon Insiders community sometime last year. I was introduced to it through Jeffrey Riley (@jeffrey_jpeg on Twitter), Antonio Luis (@Antonio_Luis on Twitter), and Mikael (@M1K4_3L on Twitter). Since then, I’ve connected with a lot more people in the tech world through the Snapdragon Insiders community.
Who is your favorite Snapdragon Insider to follow?
That’s a tough question because each of them is unique in their own way. I can’t say that anyone is my favorite because each person brings a different addition to the entire family of technology enthusiasts that I follow. With Antonio, he brings in a lot of bonding; he’s a leader, and he brings the community together. With Jeffrey, I look forward to his photography. And I look forward to Mikael's honest tech reviews. Everyone brings something unique to the table.
What do you like most about being a Snapdragon Insider?
The thing that I really love about being a Snapdragon insider is that I can communicate with anyone who loves technology, without being restricted to a particular brand. For example, if I’m a part of ABC community, it's always focused on what ABC company is manufacturing or what their next product is called. But, as a part of the Snapdragon Insiders community, we can talk about a lot more things apart from just smartphones. We can talk about XR, computers, photography, gaming, automotive, everything.
The other thing that I love about being a Snapdragon Insider is that it's a very inclusive tech community. Compared to other ones I’ve tried to be a part of, it was always limited to the bubble of people who were the core members and they were the set group who would get to be a part of any events or functions. Whereas with Snapdragon Insiders, we’ve already seen that the Snapdragon Insiders Access Program has given more people access to a lot of premium technology and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
We know you love your Snapdragon powered phone, but have you tried any other Snapdragon powered devices?
I have played with the recent gaming platform, the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 on the Razer Edge. It’s a really nice addition to the family for gaming. Because it’s an Android-powered gaming device, you have access to Android’s entire gaming library. Plus, the Snapdragon chipset means it's also really fast.
Going forward, I want to try more phones and watches as well as computers. Eventually, I’ll complete the ecosystem with a car that has Snapdragon® Digital Chassis™ Solution technology.
If budget/location wasn't an issue, what's your ideal photo/video shoot location? Where would you go, and what would you shoot?
There are a couple dream locations, but the first would be Iceland and Greenland. I know Iceland has more greenery and Greenland has more ice, but I definitely want to do some nature photography, landscape photography, and I’d love to photograph the aurora. That’s one of the things I really want to photograph in the next few years.
What’s the best photo you’ve ever taken with a smartphone camera powered by Snapdragon?
There are too many to choose from. The first one is at Monument Valley, where you can see one of the monuments through the branches of a tree, which gives the image a great sense of perspective. The second is a more recent favorite; I took a 360-degree photo of New York City from One World Observatory at One World Trade Center. It took me about 15 minutes to take this shot, made up of over 160 images. My third favorite is the first time I saw and captured the Milky Way galaxy.
Why are you a fan of Snapdragon?
There are so many reasons. The first is that they’re more focused on improving technology, rather than just being a part of device. They’re working towards making progress, and meeting the goals of what users want — they genuinely listen to our feedback. They want to ensure that with whatever device is coming out, it has good power efficiency and delivers the power that’s required to perform daily tasks. They’re not just meeting the bare minimum — they’re exceeding it. That’s especially true for users running power-heavy applications like shooting RAW photography. Snapdragon technology can handle that. And, of course, I love the community. It always comes back to the community. It’s such a wonderful group of people.
