What on Earth is a Copilot+ PC?

Everything you need to know about this new class of Windows PCs powered by Snapdragon X Series processors

Copilot+ PCs are an entirely new class of Windows PCs powered today exclusively by Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors. These new devices feature a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of 45 trillion operations per second (TOPS), which unlocks new artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced experiences in Windows 11 and popular applications (apps).

In addition to powering the world’s fastest NPU for laptops, Snapdragon X Series processors also deliver unrivaled central processing unit (CPU) performance and battery efficiency — making it the most powerful, intelligent and efficient platform ever created for Windows in its class.

Entirely new terminology for an entirely new class of PCs

What qualifies a Copilot+ PC?

Microsoft requires that all Copilot+ PCs offer an NPU with 40 TOPS, 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage. Snapdragon X Series processors meet and exceed these specs.

What is an NPU?

An NPU, or neural processing unit, is a dedicated processor on a larger system on chip (SoC) designed specifically for accelerating neural network operations and AI tasks.

What does TOPS mean?

The newly created metric used to measure AI’s incredible power and velocity, TOPS, or trillions of operations per second, gauges the total maximum achievable throughput for an NPU. Copilot+ PCs must deliver at least 40 NPU TOPS.

What is “on-device AI”?

Capable of working in harmony with Cloud AI, on-device AI delivers a faster, more secure and highly optimized AI with computing power you can rely on all on your laptop.

Unlock all-new AI experiences that empower creativity and new ways of working

Recall important details in seconds: Safely and securely access virtually anything you have seen or done on your PC quickly and intuitively by typing in cues of what you remember.

Co-create with AI within Windows: Generate endless images for free with the ability to fine tune to your liking, and save favorites to your collections

Work with apps redesigned for Copilot+ PCs: Create faster with tools for videos, photos and more with some of the most popular and exciting apps — like Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Davinci, Luminar Neo, GIMP and Stable diffusion.

Snapdragon X Elite processor powers Copilot plus PCs

Super-charged performance, advanced AI experiences and fantastic value

  • Copilot+ PCs are up to 20 times more powerful1 and up to 100 times as efficient2 for running AI workloads and deliver industry-leading AI acceleration.
  • Copilot+ PCs outperform Apple’s M3 in MacBook Pro by up to 28% in sustained multithreaded performance,3 all while delivering all-day battery life.
  • Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite deliver 54% faster CPU and 36% faster graphics processing unit (GPU) than other PCs.4
  • Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X Elite deliver 45 NPU TOPS performance — the fastest available.

Accomplish more with incredible new Copilot+ capabilities

Copilot+ on Windows enables smart innovations that help you do more. Some real-world use cases include:

  • Effortlessly recap meetings: Instead of multitasking while trying to take meeting notes, ask for a summary before signing off.
  • Compose more effective emails: Get suggestions on how to effectively deliver sensitive information or tips to improve clarity and tone.
  • Find information faster: Instantly find, create, summarize and analyze without opening multiple apps and files.
  • Create content more easily: Transform your words into a PowerPoint presentation, complete with visuals.

Boost productivity with amazing power and performance

The Snapdragon X Series is designed to help apps run fast, while consuming a lot less power. Plus, the multi-day battery reduces downtime and frustration, allowing you to stay on task. For example, it enables you to:

  • work for hours on a single charge,
  • run the latest apps without lags or delays, and
  • get lightning-fast responses to queries.

Improve security and privacy to better protect your data and personal information

Chip-to-cloud security starts with the Snapdragon X Series and extends through safeguards such as the Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit, Qualcomm Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), and Microsoft Pluton. By default, all Copilot+ PCs are Secured-Core PCs.

Plus, built-in personalized privacy controls help protect what’s important to you. On-device AI preserves tasks and data on your device, where they are kept private. For example:

  • Recall leverages information you’ve seen or created with snapshots that are built and stored entirely on your device. These snapshots are yours alone and stay locally on your PC.
  • Liquid Text uses AI features that run entirely on-device via NPU, so your data stays private.

The PC reborn

Windows Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon X Series are transforming the way we interact with our PCs and helping us achieve more. With the world’s fastest NPU for laptops, multi-day battery life and modern security, these PCs empower people to be productive and creative.
