Engineering human progress: Our commitment to inclusive 5G innovation

Connectivity is crucial to our daily lives, and an indispensable tool for communication, information and productivity. It is revolutionizing the way we interact with the world around us.

At Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., we understand the power of technology to transform lives and drive human progress, which is why as a global leader in 5G and connectivity technology, we’re engineering solutions that not only drive the industry forward, but also promote advancements for all.

Driving the industry forward

At the forefront of our commitment to excellence in engineering is the Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System. Recently announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, this groundbreaking technology sets the standard for 5G innovation. The Snapdragon X80 empowers the industry with unparalleled 5G capabilities, including lightning-fast data speeds, reduced latency, artificial intelligence (AI)-based performance enhancements, extended battery life and support for global spectrum combinations.

With Snapdragon expertise in AI, we have integrated remarkable 5G enhancements for the Snapdragon X80. The latest generation of the Qualcomm 5G AI Processor continuously enhances performance, improves quality of service, coverage, latency and power efficiency.

Our Qualcomm 5G AI Suite enables AI-powered enhancements for superior link robustness, location accuracy and efficiency.

With the Snapdragon X80, we are bringing many of the most advanced technologies to original equipment manufacturers and operators, enabling them to deliver exceptional 5G performance. From the integrated Qualcomm 5G AI Processor to increasing the number of receive antennas to six for breakthrough performance and unmatched spectrum flexibility, this system is a game-changer. It will redefine the 5G landscape, unlocking new possibilities and driving the industry forward.

Leaving no one behind

While we strive to push the boundaries of technology, we are equally committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital era. When designing a chip, we meticulously evaluate the appropriate technologies for the industry while always keeping cost-effectiveness in mind.

A prime example of our commitment to inclusivity is the recently launched Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 Mobile Platform. By leveraging the central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) for AI, we have not only provided consumers with amazing AI-enhanced experiences, but also achieved considerable cost reductions. This breakthrough allows us to lower costs and make advanced technologies accessible to a wider audience.

But our commitment to inclusivity extends beyond just the chip itself. We engineer the entire system with our partners and consumers in mind.

Our ultimate objective is to facilitate the global transition from 4G to 5G technology.

One of the key ways we achieve this level of accessibility is by changing the number of receive antennas to two on a standalone network, which we refer to as SA-2Rx. This strategic approach allows us to maximize cost savings without sacrificing performance. It enables more smartphone manufacturers to develop 5G devices at the perfect entry price point, without compromise. The result: Gigabit 5G smartphones for under $99.

In fact, we have a dedicated low-cost customized processor, set to launch later this year, that utilizes SA-2Rx technology. Imagine a device for under $99 that achieves Gigabit 5G and delivers approximately five times the peak throughput compared to a 4G device.* The possibilities that arise for 5G proliferation are truly remarkable, and we have not only imagined them but actively engineered them.

Closing the digital divide

Our mission to engineer human progress extends beyond technological advancements. We are driven by the belief that connectivity is a fundamental right, and we are committed to closing the digital divide. By making 5G connectivity more accessible, we empower individuals and communities to thrive in a more connected world.

Through our innovative solutions, we are extending 5G accessibility, enabling individuals to harness the power of technology for their well-being and economic growth with essential services such as mobile healthcare, banking and emergency aid. By further lowering the cost of connectivity technology, we are on a mission to bring 5G to 2.8 billion people.

Our commitment to engineering human progress is clear in our relentless pursuit of innovative 5G solutions. From the groundbreaking Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System to our low-cost 5G connectivity initiatives, we are driving the industry forward while leaving no one behind.

With Qualcomm Technologies, the future of 5G is not only cutting-edge but also inclusive. Everyone should benefit from the transformative power of technology. Together, let's engineer a future where connectivity knows no boundaries, and human progress is within reach for all.
