LG G7 ThinQ taps Snapdragon 845 for a fast, smart, immersive mobile world

LG’s latest flagship phone, the LG G7 ThinQ, offers a power-efficient suite of enhanced user experiences, ranging from a digital personal assistant to advanced camera technologies. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, the device combines artificial intelligence (AI), immersion, performance, and connectivity to bring the best of Qualcomm Technologies and LG together for a mobile experience that’s as efficient as it is powerful.

From immersive gaming to intuitive voice commands for the Google Assistant on the LG G7 ThinQ, the premium Snapdragon 845 mobile platform is designed to enable powerful AI capabilities. The Qualcomm AI Engine is embedded in the Snapdragon 845 and engineered to accelerate on-device AI in the LG G7 ThinQ. Compared to previous generations, it delivers up to 3X better performance for the device’s AI applications for a faster, better user experience.

The LG G7 ThinQ is one of the first devices to have Google Lens built into the camera. This powerful feature uses AI and visual search to provide information on what you see. Google Assistant and Google Lens can identify landmarks, animals, celebrities, products for shopping, and text, which comes in handy when adding a business card to contacts, translating a restaurant menu, or while travelling abroad.

Another key component integrated in the LG G7 ThinQ is the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem, which uses cutting-edge antenna technology to support Gigabit LTE speeds. Lightning-fast speeds allow LG G7 ThinQ users to experience near instant access to the internet from virtually anywhere.

The LG G7 ThinQ also offers a powerful new photo and video experience. Boasting a 6.1-inch screen and with 3120 x 1400 resolution, the new flagship device can display over a billion shades of color recorded from HDR videos. What’s more, the Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP is engineered to allow the device’s 16MP rear camera to autofocus, take stunning photos in low light, and capture and create ultra-vivid images. The Snapdragon 845 integrated AI Engine also processes the camera’s AI features such as the 19 shooting modes for intelligence-optimized shots. Because these technologies use on-device AI, the AI Engine can respond quickly for an enhanced user experience, delivering brilliant photos almost immediately.

For the LG G7 ThinQ to run its camera, AI, and wireless connectivity technologies smoothly, its mobile platform needs to be both effective and efficient. The Snapdragon 845 provides this crucial support with the Qualcomm Kryo 385 CPU, the most power-efficient architecture ever built into a Snapdragon SoC. The CPU is designed to ensure the device can run performance-intensive applications and games at speeds up to 30 percent faster than those delivered with the Snapdragon 835. For visuals, the Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU renders graphics 30 percent faster as well, so images and video are almost instantly displayed.

As for audio, the LG G7 ThinQ continues LG’s legacy of delivering cutting-edge audio experiences. Its Boombox Speaker uses the internal space of the device as a resonance chamber to produce double the bass of conventional smartphones. The effect is similar to a woofer, but there’s no need for external speakers — this Boombox Speaker is produced straight from the LG G7 ThinQ.
