At Qualcomm, we define sustainability as a strategy that drives long-term growth and profitability through the inclusion of environmental, social and corporate governance issues in our business model. From supply chain to philanthropy, ethics to environment—sustainability is simply good business.
That’s why I’m pleased to announce our Spotlight on Sustainability effort—a campaign to educate and engage our employees on what sustainability means to Qualcomm.
Many of our employees are already working with sustainability in mind, whether they are responsibly designing our products, contributing to our smart cities or Qualcomm Wireless Reach efforts or dedicating time to volunteer with our annual QCares Experience. Still more are actively engaged in their local communities when they leave the office, dedicating their time and expertise to nonprofits and other groups or causes.
Over the next three months, Qualcomm employees will have even more opportunities to learn about efforts happening across the Company, as well as ways to get involved. Many of these events, including the QCares Experience and our San Diego and international Earth Day celebrations, aren’t new for us, but others will, for example, introduce our employees to some of the transformative technologies we’re working on every day.
We’ll be kicking things off with a sustainability survey so we can understand the programs and priorities that are most meaningful to our employees. The Qualcomm Foundation will make a $10 charitable donation to the World Wildlife Fund in honor of each employee who completes the survey.
We have always believed that sustainability is good business. Striving to be a good corporate citizen and ensuring the long-term success of Qualcomm are, in the end, the same goal. With the launch of our Spotlight on Sustainability this month, I encourage you to stay tuned to read about the fun and exciting things happening on our campuses around the globe.
