Sony Xperia Tablet Z Boasts Quad-Core CPUs and Takes Whatever Life Throws At It

Sony Xperia Z Tablet

Sony kicked off Mobile World Congress in style by unveiling its 10-inch quad-core Xperia Tablet Z. The company is no stranger to launching devices with impressive specs, as it launched the Xperia Z and ZL smartphones earlier this year. Some of the many features that generated excitement in the smartphones — including their water-resistant chassis and magnificent 1080p screen — are also featured in the Tablet Z.

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the thinnest and lightest 10-inch tablet in the market, measuring a mere 6.9mm thick and weighing just over a pound (1.06 lbs). Its slimness, light weight, and dust and water resistance makes it a great choice for those out and about. The 10-inch display boasts a 1080p Full HD resolution (1920-by-1200) and is powered by Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The top of the tablet is completely covered in glass, further augmenting its drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Underneath the pretty exterior lies the components that make this tablet a powerhouse. It runs the Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro Processor featuring quad-core CPUs and a 4G LTE modem on board for the ride (there's also a WiFi only version). These key processing technologies allow the Tablet Z to drive its insanely high resolution, jaw-dropping 3D graphics, and lightning fast download speeds.

Sweetening the pot is the rest of the features. The Tablet Z has onboard 2 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, NFC, and an 8.1 MP Exmor R camera. While most tablets are still waiting on their latest Android update, the Tablet Z will run Jelly Bean when it ships.

The Xperia Tablet Z will be available in black in a 16 GB and 32 GB version and will be sold at Sony Stores, including online, and other authorized dealers nationwide for about $499 and $599 respectively this spring. A white 32 GB version will be available exclusively at Sony Stores, including online.
