Bassboost includes two sets of algorithms. The first one use crossover to seperate low frequency and high frequency from the music signal. Then a dynamic compressor is apply to low frequency part to enhance bass at low volume and supress bas at higher volume. The second algorithm use psychological acoustic technique to generate harmonics of bass components. The algoithm produce a kind of 'artifical' low frequency component at cost of slightly higher THD. Two algorithms can be used simulataneouly or seperately.
