Extras for Snapdragon Insiders
Are you gaming in immersive worlds with virtual reality (VR)? What about expanding your digital workspace with augmented reality (AR)? Maybe you’re even combining VR and AR to have an integrated experience in mixed reality (MR). All of these technologies that transform our experiences with the environments around us, both physical and virtual, are under the umbrella of extended reality (XR). Increasingly, XR is being integrated into our daily lives in new and exciting ways. And yes, that includes the Metaverse.
We’re working on the Snapdragon technologies that are powering the next generation of XR experiences for people like you, our Snapdragon Insiders. We have created both the hardware (Snapdragon XR2 5G platform) and the software (Snapdragon Spaces) to support the growing XR ecosystem. This month’s been a whirlwind of announcements, activities, and events. Check out what we’ve been up to.
Augmented World Expo 2022
Augmented World Expo (AWE) is one of the premier XR events globally, so you know we had to be there. Thousands of attendees, from CEOs to designers to developers, gathered to learn how to grow their businesses in the XR ecosystem.
Hugo Swart, Vice President and General Manager of XR at Qualcomm Technologies, delivered the keynote address, titled “Your Ticket to the Metaverse.” During his presentation, Hugo laid out our vision for XR, broke down the evolution of headworn AR devices, and illustrated how Snapdragon Spaces is enabling developers to create the future of XR. Watch the full keynote over on YouTube.
Snapdragon Spaces, announced at AWE 2021 and available now, is an XR developer platform that’s paving the way to a new frontier of spatial computing. With industry-leading tools, developers get everything they need to create amazing XR applications.
At the Snapdragon booth, attendees were able to witness live demos of AR games and health and wellness experiences powered by Snapdragon Spaces. From going face-to-face with dragons in FlinkAAR by ForwARdgame, to meditating with Tripp, to seeing living pictures with Figmin XR, to experiencing the first playable AR demo of the hit RPG Demeo by Resolution Games, these demos showcased what’s possible with Snapdragon Spaces. And this is just the beginning.
Twitter Spaces – Live at #AWE2022: Snapdragon Spaces & the Future of XR
Hugo had his hands full with AWE this month, but he still made time to participate in a Twitter Spaces chat with Nanea Reeves (yes, she’s related to Keanu), the CEO and Co-Founder of XR wellness company TRIPP, and ThrillSeeker, an XR industry analyst, content creator, and founder of the XR-focused media company ThrillSeeker Media Group.
The group discussed the development and improvement of XR technologies as well as the XR applications they’re most excited for in the future. With a diverse set of developers and users, the potential for XR is nearly limitless, both for simulating real-life environments and for use cases that aren't possible in the real world. Curious about the group’s thoughts on spatial computing and the future of XR (and their answers to questions from Snapdragon Insiders)? Listen to the full conversation.
Snapdragon Insiders Inaugural VR meetup
What better way to showcase how Snapdragon technologies are powering XR than by hosting a VR meetup? We wanted to give Snapdragon Insiders a chance to get in on the action, which is why we decided to host our first-ever Snapdragon Insiders meetup in AltspaceVR.
Select Snapdragon Insiders were invited to meet with Steve Lukas, Director, Product Management for Qualcomm Technologies’ XR team, to glean some exclusive information about how Snapdragon technology is enabling the XR industry and meet up with other Snapdragon Insiders from around the world in an incredible VR setting. Check out some of our Snapdragon Insider attendees on Twitter:

Want to join us next time? Become a Snapdragon Insider and stay tuned for future opportunities to meet us in VR.
From AWE to Twitter Spaces to the VR meetup, we loved sharing some of the great things we’re doing with XR. We’ve worked hard to create best-in-class Snapdragon XR technologies, and now it’s our turn to see what you can create. If you’re a XR developer, check out the Snapdragon Spaces XR Developer Platform, available now.
