Qualcomm Conducts 15th Annual ‘Qualcomm IT Tour’ for Korean Students in Science and Engineering Fields

Twenty-five undergraduate and graduate students majoring in Science and Engineering visit Qualcomm San Diego headquarters

Qualcomm Incorporated announced that it hosted its annual ‘Qualcomm IT Tour’ for a group of 25 outstanding Korean undergraduate and graduate students majoring in science and engineering. The event was held this week at Qualcomm San Diego headquarters.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Qualcomm IT Tour is a program designed to nurture and inspire young leaders in science and engineering fields, by providing them with firsthand access to a leading global corporation, its executives and its cutting-edge technologies and products, as well as connecting their interests and talents to real-life scenarios and experiences. During their visit, students had the opportunity to interact with Qualcomm leading technologies, such as the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ platform and IoT technologies.

Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, executive chairman of Qualcomm Incorporated, hosted a roundtable meeting with the students, where they presented their ideas and innovative solutions on several topics, including 5G and connected car. Additionally, Korean engineers currently working at Qualcomm headquarters engaged with students in mentoring sessions, providing them with valuable advice about their careers, studies, as well as talking about opportunities available when working at a global technology leader like Qualcomm.

“Qualcomm is committed to fostering the development and growth of young talents globally,” said Dr. Te-Won Lee, vice president and president of Qualcomm Korea. “We believe our IT Tour is very valuable to the participating students, and contributes to the development of the mobile ecosystem in Korea. This unique experience gives students perspective about the future of the mobile industry, as well inspiration to continue pursuing their careers and becoming future industry leaders.”

In addition to the Qualcomm IT Tour, Qualcomm Korea has been providing annual scholarships since 2004 to distinguished students in science and engineering majors. Qualcomm Korea has also granted scholarships to graduate students under the ‘Qualcomm Innovation Award’ program.
