Qualcomm Appoints Alex Rogers as EVP and President of QTL

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that Alex Rogers has been promoted to executive vice president and president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL), effective immediately.

Rogers has led QTL since March 2016. In this role, Rogers is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of QTL, including managing the division’s day-to-day operations.

“As we continue to expand our licensing business, including new growth areas such as the Internet of Things, Alex will be a valuable addition to our executive leadership team,” said Derek Aberle, president of Qualcomm Incorporated. “He has demonstrated strong leadership and delivered solid results for QTL, including driving the conclusion of new license agreements with key OEMs in China.”

During his 15-year tenure at Qualcomm, Rogers has held various leadership roles focused on IP and commercial litigation matters. In 2007, Rogers was promoted to senior vice president and since then led Qualcomm’s litigation department, most recently as senior vice president and deputy general counsel. He has applied his legal and business experience to managing intellectual property, regulatory and commercial litigation matters for the company.

Prior to joining the Company in 2001, Rogers was a partner with the law firm of Gray, Cary, Ware & Friedenrich (now DLA Piper), specializing in intellectual property litigation for various technology companies, as well as representing companies outside of the tech sector. Rogers holds a Juris Doctorate, master’s degree in literature and a Bachelor of Arts degree, each from Georgetown University.
