John Han
EVP and GM, Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL)
John Han serves as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL). In this role, he leads Qualcomm's global licensing business, overseeing strategy, operations, and customer engagement worldwide. Qualcomm's licensing program enables companies around the world to develop innovative products using foundational wireless technologies.
Han joined Qualcomm in 2016 as Senior Vice President and General Manager of QTL. During his tenure, QTL secured early 5G licensing agreements across the vast majority of the handset ecosystem and has successfully renewed most of those agreements while strengthening long-term customer relationships. He has also overseen the evolution of QTL's automotive and IoT licensing programs, reinforcing Qualcomm's leadership as advances in cellular technology enable new capabilities across an increasingly diverse range of connected products.
Prior to joining Qualcomm, Han held several leadership positions at Ericsson, where he was the head of Ericsson's global licensing program. He was also the head of Ericsson's global patent portfolio development organization as well as its Patent Assertion and Analysis team. Before joining Ericsson, he served as General Patent Counsel for Samsung Telecommunications America. He started his IP career working as an IP associate with Jenkens & Christ in Dallas, Texas.
Han holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, and a J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law.
