Qualcomm Appoints Andrew Gilbert President of Qualcomm Europe and Pertti Johansson President of Qualcomm Middle East and Africa

Gilbert Brings More Than 25 Years of Telecom Experience to Support Qualcomm's Partners in Accelerating European Subscriber Migration to WCDMA/HSDPA

Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, today announced the appointment of Andrew Gilbert as president of Qualcomm Europe. Gilbert, a native of England, will be responsible for the leadership of Qualcomm's European business and will be based in Qualcomm's London office. Gilbert succeeds Pertti Johansson who has been appointed to a new position as president of Qualcomm Middle East and Africa (MEA).

Gilbert has spent the last 25 years in sales, marketing and general management roles for telecommunications vendors in both Europe and the United States. He spent several years at Motorola within the mobile radio division and a decade in the fixed line business. He also was involved with launching technologies, including Frame Relay, ATM and IP networking, into Europe for companies such as Racal, N.E.T., JTec and SOMA Networks.

Gilbert most recently served as vice president and general manager of Flarion Europe, where he has successfully guided Flarion Technologies' European business through technical and commercial validation with global operators such as T-Mobile and Vodafone, and ultimately to multiple commercial deployments of FLASH-OFDM with T-Mobile in Slovakia and Germany and with Digita in Finland. Qualcomm recently announced the completion of the acquisition of Flarion (see Qualcomm announcement, January 19, 2005).

"Andrew Gilbert brings extensive strategic and market experience to this position and his appointment further supports Qualcomm's commitment to working with our partners on the deployment of WCDMA and HSDPA, as well as OFDMA services, in Europe," said Jeff Jacobs, president of global development, Qualcomm. "Andrew is a recognized leader in the industry and his strong relationships with European operators and other telecommunication leaders will support the continued growth of Qualcomm's business in Europe."

"As Qualcomm addresses the growing opportunities in the Middle East and Africa, one of the fastest growing wireless markets, Pertti's long and successful career in growing and managing business in different regions of the world, combined with his experience and relationships with operators and manufacturers, will be beneficial to the growth of Qualcomm products and services in the MEA region," said Jacobs.
