Qualcomm Celebrates 20 Years of Growth and Community Involvement

Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, honored its employees with a 20th anniversary celebration yesterday at Qualcomm Stadium, marking 20 years of technology innovation, growth and community involvement. As the Company enters a new chapter of leadership, with Dr. Paul Jacobs, CEO-elect and Steven Altman, president-elect taking the helm on July 1, Qualcomm acknowledged its two decades of social, economic and philanthropic involvement in San Diego, while looking ahead to 20 more years of driving the wireless industry forward.

"Qualcomm is grateful to all of our employees, whose hard work and commitment for the past 20 years have made the Company into one of the most influential wireless industry leaders in the world today," said Dr. Irwin Jacobs, Qualcomm chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

"We congratulate Qualcomm for 20 years of being a technology leader and a positive force in the development of San Diego," said Julia Wilson, CEO of the San Diego Telecom Council. "Qualcomm's forward-looking vision and constant encouragement of advanced technology development, have spurred global recognition of San Diego as one of the world's leading centers for wireless innovation."

"In addition to the Company's technology innovation, Qualcomm employees have put their dedication and compassion to work in other ways to support the San Diego community," added Dr. Irwin Jacobs. "Community involvement has been and will continue to be the backbone of Qualcomm's culture as we look forward to the future."

Since the Company's founding, Qualcomm has promoted an environment of community and philanthropy among its employees and has served San Diego as a good corporate neighbor by providing specialized services to a growing number of non-profit organizations. In addition to supporting an employee volunteerism program, every year Qualcomm aims to donate one to two percent of the Company's pretax profits to community causes, with a focus on programs that promote education, health and human services, culture and the arts.

Qualcomm's giving and volunteerism programs are based on respect for community organizations, cooperative leadership development and philanthropic creativity. That mission continued last night as the Company announced a donation of more than $1 million to four San Diego area not-for-profit organizations, which include the San Diego Children's Museum; Elementary Institute of Science; Monarch School and Voices for Children.

"Congratulations to Qualcomm on reaching this 20 year milestone and for its continued commitment to the local communities in which you live and work," said Congresswoman Susan Davis. "I am excited to see what's ahead for the company and San Diego moving forward."
