Pettibone Selects Qualcomm’s GlobalTRACS® Equipment Management Solution

Leading Material-Handling Equipment Manufacturer to Install GlobalTRACS on All Products at the Factory

Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading provider of wireless data solutions, and Pettibone, a leading manufacturer of material-handling equipment for more than 120 years, today jointly announced the signing of an agreement to install Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS equipment management solution on Pettibone's full line of material handling equipment.

“This agreement will see Qualcomm's industry leading equipment management solution installed on every piece of Pettibone material-handling equipment that comes out of our factory,” said Kevin Walsh, president of Pettibone. “Pettibone's new line of equipment is extremely advanced, and the addition of GlobalTRACS will allow end users to better monitor and maintain their equipment for more productivity and increased machine life.” “Pettibone has set itself apart from the competition by producing some of the finest machines in the market, and we are proud to be part of the customer solution,” said Larry Cleary, general manager of construction equipment, Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. “We believe that offering their equipment with the GlobalTRACS solution will only increase their appeal and provide additional value to their customers.”

The GlobalTRACS equipment management solution is designed to meet the demanding requirements of construction equipment manufacturers. The GlobalTRACS solution collects, manages and transmits equipment operating status and location data, and will soon remotely monitor vital machine functions as well. All of this information can be accessed via an easy-to-use Web-based application or integrated into existing back-end business software systems.

Other advantages of Qualcomm's GlobalTRACS solution include the ability for engine hours to be reported on demand or at automated intervals. Security management is also a key feature of the system, as the GlobalTRACS solution allows users to create virtual boundaries, or “geo-fences,” with both entry and exit alerts. Upgrades to the system can be completed remotely, meaning the owner/manager will stay ahead of the technology curve.

Located in Baraga, Michigan, Pettibone manufactures a full line of fixed-boom and transfer-boom rough-terrain telehandlers, Cary-Lift pipe and pole material handlers, and Speed Swing railroad maintenance cranes.
