Qualcomm Chairman and CEO Honored with Civil Rights Award for Contributions to Workplace Diversity and Education Reform

Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Recognizes Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs

Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) today announced that Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, was honored with the 2004 Dr. Dorothy I. Height Chairperson's Award of Special Merit by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) at an awards ceremony last night in Washington, D.C.

The LCCR, the nation's oldest, largest, and most diverse civil and human rights coalition, recognized Dr. Jacobs for Qualcomm's commitment to diversity in the workplace, his leadership in the education reform movement and the Company's support of affirmative action. Examples of Dr. Jacobs' leadership in these areas include San Diego's High Tech High, LCCR Education Fund's "Brown at 50" celebration, and the Realize the Dream project established to develop a public policy agenda on public school education reform (www.realizethedream.org).

"Dr. Jacobs' commitment to equality and diversity, along with the example Qualcomm has set for both the San Diego community and the nation, are benchmarks for how corporations can contribute to the equal rights cause in America," said Wade Henderson, LCCR's executive director. "Qualcomm's leadership in workplace diversity and education exemplifies the spirit of the LCCR, and we're pleased to present Dr. Jacobs with this award."

"I am honored to accept the Dr. Dorothy I. Height Chairperson's Award on behalf of Qualcomm," said Dr. Jacobs. "LCCR has paved the way for advancing equal rights and education reform for over 50 years. This organization's acknowledgement of Qualcomm's programs and initiatives reinforces the values the Company upholds."

In 2002, Dr. Jacobs also received the Secretary of Labor's Opportunity Award for establishing and instituting comprehensive strategies to ensure equal opportunity in Qualcomm's workforce. Additionally, Qualcomm's efforts have earned recognition in FORTUNE's "Best 100 Companies to Work for in America," as well as Industry Week's "100 Best Managed Companies."
