Qualcomm Congratulates Reliance on the Rollout of Third-Generation CDMA2000 1X Services in India

SAN DIEGO -- May 14, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, congratulates Reliance Infocomm, a member of the Reliance group, India's largest business enterprise, on the commercial launch of Reliance IndiaMobile's, third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X services, which commenced on May 1, 2003. The Reliance IndiaMobile service marks the first CDMA2000 1X nationwide commercial launch in India, bringing advanced wireless data and voice services to 92 cities.

Reliance Infocomm's success in signing up over one million customers and achieving a record 30 million minutes of wireless usage per day demonstrates that the company is at the forefront of delivering advanced wireless communications services to India.

Reliance Infocomm is packaging its services as Reliance IndiaMobile, offering a host of feature-rich applications, including messaging in Indian languages, e-mail, Internet surfing, access to real-time political, financial and sports-related news, games and streaming video at speeds of up to 144 kbps.

Reliance's launch follows the launch of 43 commercial 3G networks in 24 countries across Asia Pacific, Australia, Eastern Europe and the Americas. CDMA2000 1X operators are experiencing increased average revenue per user (ARPU) in data-related services, support from an expanded base of device manufacturers and myriad applications from an increasing number of content developers.
