Qualcomm Congratulates Iusacell on the Rollout of Third-Generation Services in Mexico

SAN DIEGO -- January 24, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, congratulates Iusacell, provider of cellular telephony products and services, on its commercial launch of third-generation (3G) CDMA2000 1X services. Iusacell commenced its 3G services at a launch ceremony held yesterday, January 23, 2003, in Mexico City.

"The introduction of CDMA2000 1X uniquely positions Iusacell within the Mexican wireless market," said Jeff Jacobs, president of global development for Qualcomm. Since the introduction of CDMA2000 1X in October 2000, there have been 35 carrier launches in 17 countries worldwide.
