Cornhusker Selects Qualcomm's OmniTRACS System for Service, Reliability and Driver Friendliness

SAN DIEGO December 8, 1998 Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) a leader in wireless solutions for the transportation industry, today announced that Omaha, Neb.- based Cornhusker Motor Lines, Inc., has signed a contract to outfit their entire fleet with the OmniTRACS® mobile satellite communications and vehicle tracking system. Installation will be completed this month.

After thoroughly evaluating Qualcomm's OmniTRACS system against other communications providers, Cornhusker found Qualcomm's business solution the most reliable and cost effective while offering the widest range of products to meet their needs. Cornhusker plans to use the mobile information management system to achieve a higher level of customer service, and improve overall operating efficiencies and driver productivity.

"We looked at other mobile communications systems and determined Qualcomm offered the best technology and the most complete suite of products," said Ed Trout, president and chief executive officer of Cornhusker Motor Lines, Inc. and past chairman of the American Trucking Associations (ATA). "Qualcomm's solution had everything we wanted from wide coverage and improved driver safety to increased fleet productivity. More importantly, it's a company with an outstanding track record that is committed to both the success of its customers and to the transportation industry as a whole."

The OmniTRACS system will give Cornhusker a competitive edge in both the freight and driver market and at the same time enable them to reduce pay phone costs and to streamline operations such as load swapping. Cornhusker also plans to use the technology to get drivers home more often and give them quality rest time while on the road.

"We are pleased that Cornhusker took the time to assess all the alternatives and chose to outfit their fleet with our system," said Phil White, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions™. "We believe that our suite of products will enable them to significantly reduce costs and improve their day-to-day operations."
