Qualcomm Supports Mount Miguel High School to Rebuild Science Classrooms

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced its support for a program to rebuild classrooms at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, devastated by fire in October 1997. Qualcomm will help rebuild the science lab and classrooms which are used by Mount Miguel's award-winning science students and teachers.

"We wanted to recognize the excellence of this school and its commitment to technology," said Dr. Daniel L. Sullivan, senior vice president of human resources for Qualcomm. "Mount Miguel teachers have inspired a generation of students to be interested and excited about science, and we know those students will be assets to the growing high-tech industries. Mount Miguel students consistently rate high in county and state science fairs, often bringing home top honors and awards. Acclaimed science teacher Larry Nordell, who has taught for nearly 20 years, encourages and teaches students at Mount Miguel. Mr. Nordell has collected numerous awards as a teacher, including the esteemed Christa McAuliffe Fellowship and designation as San Diego County's outstanding high school chemistry teacher in 1986.

"Our decision to support this effort is based on Mount Miguel's reputation for excellence, both in their staff and their students," continued Sullivan. "When we can support an outstanding science program like Mount Miguel's, it benefits both Qualcomm and the community."
