Qualcomm Promotes Mark Epstein to Senior Vice President of Development

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the promotion of Dr. Mark Epstein to senior vice president of Development. Dr. Epstein leads Qualcomm's international standards activities and develops inter-corporate relationships in support of the Company's next generation wireless products.

Dr. Epstein's extensive background in electronic research and development includes over 30 years in the communications industry. Dr. Epstein joined Qualcomm in 1986 as vice president of development. Prior to joining Qualcomm, he served as the Deputy for Communications, Command, Control and Intelligence in the office of the Secretary of the U.S. Army, where he was responsible for the U.S. Army's communications, surveillance, electronic warfare and intelligence systems. In this position, he successfully revitalized the Army's leadership role and operational focus on electronics programs. Dr. Epstein also held senior operations and management positions in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Computer Sciences Corporation and Northrop Corporation. Dr. Epstein received B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
