Qualcomm Appoints Jack Dollard as Senior Vice President for High VolumeSubscriber Manufacturing

Citing the growing worldwide demand for its Code Divsion Multiple Access (CDMA) handsets, Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the appointment of Jack Dollard as Senior Vice President for Subscriber Manufacturing.

"Jack's extensive experience in high-volume manufacturing of consumer electronics will be a great asset to our growing subscriber products business," said Rich Sulpizio, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Qualcomm. "At a time when the worldwide demand for Qualcomm's CDMA products is growing dramatically, Jack's appointment prepares us for the competitive manufacturing challenges we face."

Dollard was most recently the vice president and general manager for Toshiba America Information Systems Manufacturing Division, where he was responsible for building from the ground up a $5 billion multi-plant manufacturing operation delivering notebook, laptop and desktop computers, cellular phones, copiers, facsimile machines and disk drives.

While at Toshiba, Dollard instituted significant manufacturing improvements including inventory reduction, reduced lead times, focused workforce teams, multi-functional cross-training and just-in-time techiques.

"Qualcomm's rapid growth has been met successfully in the manufacturing arena as demonstrated by meeting the increasing customer demands for handsets. I look forward to meeting the challenges of keeping pace with the continued growth in that demand by producing handsets quickly, efficiently, at lower cost and with Qualcomm's traditional superior quality and technology," Dollard said.

Dollard previously served as director of operations for Data Products Corporation where he was responsible for total West Coast manufacturing for the company's line of complex computer printers. He also worked as vice president of operations for Protocol Computers and production operations manager at Rockwell International Corp.

Dollard received his bachelors degree in business administration and marketing from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, later earning his masters in business administration from Central Michigan University.

He is a member of the Association of Production and Inventory Control Society and American Society for Just-In-Time Suppliers.
