Qualcomm Appoints Directors for Investor Relations and Government Affairs

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the appointments of Julie Cunningham as Director of Investor Relations and William Bold as Director of Government Affairs. The appointments reflect Qualcomm's continued commitment to build relationships and maintain open lines of communication with its key constituencies.

"We understand the importance of timely and accurate communications with our key audiences, especially as Qualcomm continues to grow," said Harvey P. White, president of Qualcomm. "As a result, we have consolidated our corporate-level communications into a single Public Affairs area, under the leadership of Dan Pegg and the Office of the Chairman. This focused team of professionals will help communicate the Company's vision and strategic direction."

"Both Julie and Bill are pivotal players on Qualcomm's communications team. Julie's strong technology background and extensive experience with media and analysts makes her especially well-suited for her new challenge in working with Chief Financial Officer Tony Thornley and the financial community," said Daniel O. Pegg, senior vice president of Public Affairs for Qualcomm. "Bill's proven track record gives us a government affairs presence at a time when our industry faces increasing regulatory issues, both domestically and internationally".

Most recently, Ms. Cunningham served as Qualcomm's director of Corporate Communications. With over 12 years of experience in the communications industry, Ms. Cunningham has been with Qualcomm since 1994 where she served as public relations manager for the CDMA Division. Ms. Cunningham began her career at Linkabit Corporation, where she spent five years as a sales engineer and product manager for a line of satellite communications products. Ms. Cunningham earned bachelors of science degrees in computer science and business administration from Pepperdine University.

Appointed to the newly created position of Director of Government Affairs, Mr. Bold was most recently the director of public policy for the California Healthcare Institute (CHI), a statewide research and advocacy organization representing California's leading academic biosciences research, biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical organizations. In this position, Mr. Bold managed the political and legislative agenda for California's biomedical industry at both the state and federal levels.

Before joining CHI, Mr. Bold served as the legislative director for former U.S. Representative Lynn Schenk (D-San Diego), where he specialized in legislative issues under the jurisdiction of the House Commerce Committee pertaining to the telecommunications and health care industries. Mr. Bold earned his bachelors degree in political economy from the University of California, Berkeley.
