Qualcomm Names Daniel Pegg Senior Vice President for Public Affairs

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM) today announced the appointment of Daniel O. Pegg to the newly created position of Senior Vice President for Public Affairs; overseeing corporate public relations, public affairs, community relations and investor relations activities for the company.

"Dan has been a major architect and leader of economic development for San Diego County and has played a key role in helping San Diego adopt a global outlook and establish a diversified economy," said Dr. Irwin Jacobs, Qualcomm chairman and CEO. "We are excited about having Dan be part of our senior management team. His wide range of contacts and marketing background will help Qualcomm in expanding its public outreach efforts to meet the demands of our growing, global company."

Mr. Pegg served as president of the San Diego Economic Development Corporation (EDC) since 1992. His achievements on behalf of EDC included advocating and facilitating the emergence of the maquiladora industry, co-founding the Border Trade Alliance (BTA) and the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) CONNECT Program, and representing the San Diego region on numerous world trade missions to Asia, Mexico and Europe.

As the former chairman of the Border Trade Alliance, Dan currently sits on the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of CONVIS. He is a founding member and on the steering committee of the UCSD CONNECT Program and is on the Board of Directors of Gensia, Incorporated. He is also a member of the Biomedical Industry Council, the San Diego Consortium and Private Industry Council.

A graduate of California State University at Los Angeles, Mr. Pegg is a native Californian and has resided in La Jolla, California for the past 18 years with his wife, Pat. They have a twelve-year-old son, Daniel.
