Qualcomm products mentioned within this press release are offered by Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and/or its subsidiaries.

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the availability of a dual Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) with improved capability and performance to satisfy the demands of digital wireless communications and the exacting phase and frequency control required by high performance measurement systems. The Q2368 DDS can be configured as a single high-speed DDS capable of operating at 120 Megahertz (MHz) clock speed when set for doubling mode, or as two independent DDS devices each capable of operating at 60 MHz clock speed when set for dual DDS mode.

The Q2368 DDS offers two new features providing unique synthesizer capabilities—programmable chirp rate and hold control. New to Qualcomm's family of DDS products, the Q2368 includes chirp mode and power-down mode. This device has additional built-in functions for programmable load command, programmable load output trigger, and modulation control.

The versatility of the Q2368 DDS makes it ideal for a broad range of applications including: Doppler correction for non-geosynchronous satellite communications; cellular base stations; radar systems and simulators; missile guidance systems; magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); digital radios and modems; scientific and industrial measurement systems; remote transceivers; scanners; paging systems; acousto-optical or laser scanning; image processing; test equipment and local oscillator generation for very small aperture terminals (VSAT); direct broadcast by satellite (DBS); and global positioning systems (GPS). The Q2368 DDS provides 32-bit digital input resolution for both frequency and phase control. The 12-bit output amplitude resolution includes Qualcomm's patented Noise Reduction Circuit (NRC) for reducing discrete spurious levels. All phase, frequency and operating modes are controlled via a single microprocessor interface with user options for 8-bit Buscontrol or serial control. This low-power device operates from a +5 Voltpower supply and is packaged in a 14x14 millimeter (mm) 100-pin Plastic Quad Flat Pack (PQFP).

Pricing for the Q2368 DDS in 100 piece quantities is $15.95 per device. Samples will be available in late May, with production quantities available in late July of 1996.
