Connected Enterprise: Snapdragon redefines computing for the modern enterprise at Mobile World Congress 2022 [video]

Hybrid workplaces demand next-generation premium experiences

Businesses are growing and changing at an unprecedented pace. From day-to-day transactions to delivering innovation, they’re rethinking and retooling their operations to accommodate today’s shifting landscape. Perhaps the biggest change to workforce strategy is the adoption of the hybrid workforce. This has forced companies to accelerate their digital transformation plans as enterprises make bigger investments to support a digital-first workplace.

Consider this: a Harvard Business School study found that a whopping 80 percent of professionals prefer to work in hybrid environments, and a Verizon report found that 78 percent of enterprise leaders  expect hybrid work to continue even after the pandemic subsides. As funding for cloud-based solutions increases, so does the demand for intelligently connected devices. And businesses need solutions that leverage connectivity and AI-accelerated performance to compete in this new world.

At Qualcomm Investor Day, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated, “there’s no question that the past 20 months have been a catalyst for an unprecedented wave for digital transformation that’s creating important new opportunities for our customers.”

Our strategic alliance with Microsoft is based, in part, on a shared vision of creating a future where everyone and everything is intelligently connected. For the enterprise, this means utilizing transformative technologies like 5G and AI, powerful system-level performance, and advanced security features to address challenges and enhance the business user experience.  We have done exactly that with our Snapdragon compute platforms.

Solving pain points for business end users and IT

When we announced our latest premium-tier compute platform, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021, we were laser-focused on addressing obstacles faced by enterprises in this new cloud-based world.

Now, at Mobile World Congress 2022, Lenovo announced the world’s first ARM-based ThinkPad, powered by the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3. Built for businesses, the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s takes full advantage of Windows on Snapdragon features and capabilities, including 5G connectivity, AI accelerated experiences, incredible performance, multi-day battery life and more to deliver compelling next-generation premium experiences for business users and IT.

With employees wanting to be mobile, our Always On, Always Connected PCs enable users to work freely without sacrificing productivity, collaboration, and security.

For example, we’ve all had important video calls marred by poor camera quality or auditory interruptions like kids screaming, dogs barking, or loud keyboard typing. Whether you’re collaborating with a colleague or making a sales pitch to a customer, you want assurances that you can be seen and be heard. You can’t completely replicate an in-person meeting, but you can enhance the digital experience to be more immersive. Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 powered PCs like the Lenovo ThinkPad X13s can leverage the integrated Qualcomm AI Engine to seamlessly remove unwanted background noise and focus on the user’s voice, ensuring that you can clearly hear what they’re saying in virtually any environment.

It also supports premium camera quality for crystal-clear video conferencing and enhanced auto-framing, so the focus is dynamic and can adapt to show one or multiple people — not just a static image frame — as they enter or leave the frame of the video call.

While the workforce wants to be able to work from anywhere, IT teams also need to ensure that company assets are secure and protected. We understand this obstacle, as we‘ve been securing mobile devices “from anywhere” for decades. Our latest premium-tier compute platform, Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, comes equipped with the Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit running Microsoft Pluton, Qualcomm AI Engine, and Zero Trust sensor framework, so IT teams can extend their perimeter and better protect their fleet of devices. They can also utilize persistent 5G connectivity to cloud intelligence for threat protection and remediation, no matter where their employees are working with 5G.

Given our mobile DNA, we’ve anticipated this work-from-anywhere environment. We integrate biometric sensors for identity access management including camera security features like Windows Hello, allowing for persistent facial authentication.

With these experiences in mind, we’re proud to deliver the ultimate hybrid work solution, enabling enterprises to provide the work lifestyle their employees prefer.

Driving new solutions for the enterprise

This is only the beginning of our mission to deliver next-generation, premium experiences for enterprises.

We’re constantly collaborating with major brands to enhance all parts of the Windows on Snapdragon ecosystem. At MWC 2022, we announced the expansion of our Snapdragon Compute ecosystem for Next-Generation Enterprise-grade PCs. This includes collaborating with the top 100 Windows ISVs to optimize their applications, including Zoom and CrowdStrike.

We’re also developing strategic alliances with global resellers and distributors in the channel such as TechData and SHI and others to increase availability of product and create new and exciting offerings for companies. And as we have been for decades, we’re continuing to work with carriers such as Verizon and Vodafone and many more to deliver fast connectivity to Snapdragon powered devices.

Our efforts extend all the way to direct support for organizations, where there are currently hundreds of enterprises that are testing and deploying devices with Snapdragon technology today.

Our goal is to deliver more intelligent and innovative solutions that meet the demands of businesses and their workforce. Also at MWC 2022 Lenovo also shared the development of a new experience that tethers Lenovo ThinkPad X13s with the ThinkReality A3 Smart Glasses powered by Snapdragon XR1. This new use case delivers a more convenient, mobile, and safe business user experience.

When a user puts on the smart glasses, they can see extended monitors that can expand their workspace. Not only does this increase convenience and the ability to be productive from anywhere, but it elevates privacy as it helps safeguard from others looking at their virtual screens.

We’re committed to being a key strategic partner for the enterprise ecosystem. Our compute solutions deliver the performance, security, and network advantage businesses need to stay competitive and ahead of the game. We help ensure they’re empowered to keep their workforce connected, productive, and safe, from virtually anywhere.
