Qualcomm celebrates diversity at the San Diego Pride Parade

Earlier this month I was fortunate enough to march in the San Diego Pride Parade alongside 300 other “Qualcommers,” their families, and friends. It’s the sixth year in a row that I’ve participated in this celebration of our LGBT community, and I always find it a personally rewarding experience. In a way, the parade is a reflection of our company: a diverse community, marching forward together.

The workplace — and the world — must be safe and inclusive for all types of people. As the LGBT community is a colorful tapestry woven of the intertwined fabric of every population, we know how vital it is that we selflessly support each other. The recent tragedies in Orlando and elsewhere have served as a stark reminder of this responsibility. In memory and support of the victims of Orlando, our contingent wore black and rainbow ribbons.

I’m extremely proud of the support that Qualcomm provides to the LGBT community. The company contributes to groups such as the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), PFLAG, and the San Diego LGBT Center. Moreover, we’ve been recognized as a “Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality,” and in 2016 the Company scored a 100 percent on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the fourth time.

I’d like to thank all the LGBT employees and allies who marched with me in the parade, including our CEO Steve Mollenkopf. Your presence and support make our company a welcoming place for all.
