Snapdragon behind smartphones with highest DxOMark rated cameras

DxOMark has benchmark-tested more than 9,000 cameras. And Qualcomm Snapdragon powered devices make up six of the top seven highest-ranked mobile cameras that it has reviewed to date.

The trusted software company takes into account exposure, contrast, color, autofocus, and quality of flash, among other factors, when performing its laboratory tests on a device’s hardware and software.

So what’s the tech that’s behind these excellent photos? The image signal processors (ISPs) integrated in Snapdragon processors power many advanced camera features, such as enhanced video capture and post-processing HDR. The Snapdragon 808 and 810, for example, boast dual-ISPs, bringing advanced camera techniques to the phone in your pocket.

Here are the six Snapdragon phones that top DxOMark’s list of mobile cameras and videos:

Sony Xperia Z5: This flagship phone earned a score of 87, the highest photo and video scores ever awarded to a mobile phone, The phone has the best DxO photo score of all mobile devices tested to date, and features the Snapdragon 810 processor’s powerful dual-ISPs, which support autofocus and richer low-light photos.

Google Nexus 6P: The Huawei designed phone scored an 84, with especially high sub-scores in photo texture, exposure, and contrast, also powered by the Snapdragon 810.

LG G4: This phone packs superior mobile imaging features including laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, and LED flash, and scored an 83. Powered by the Snapdragon 808.

Samsung GALAXY Note 4: With help from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, the device scored 83 overall, with even higher scores in areas including exposure and contrast, texture, and artifacts.

Moto X Style: Like the LG G4 and the Samsung GALAXY Note 4, the aptly named Moto X Style phone scored an 83. The phone packs a 21-megapixel camera and is powered by the Snapdragon 808.

Sony Xperia Z3+: The Snapdragon 810 based phone, performs well in low-light and bright conditions, and scored an 82.
