The Internet of Everything Development Platform – Where IoE meets M2M

Think about connected cars, connected health care and even Smart Cities. As the devices around us become more closely integrated with computing in the cloud, you can see a coming convergence between the Internet of Everything (IoE) and machine-to-machine (M2M).

That convergence requires a platform that not only runs the device but also naturally binds with the cloud.  As embedded devices become more practical, more scalable and less expensive, IoE is expanding beyond M2M to connecting everything.

To make this a reality, M2M application development needs to be as easy as developing PC applications has become, and it needs to offer the same advantages PC app developers have become accustomed to, like easy access to development environment, tools, short development time, near-real-time response, security and integration with back-end systems.

The evolution needs software and hardware . . .

On the software side of this development equation, Qualcomm Technologies recognizes that Java, with its huge developer community, is a viable platform for growing the potential of M2M applications and integrating them to the IoE. Collaborating with Oracle to enable Java provides a broad set of powerful technologies to the M2M ecosystem. This is our starting point for delivering platforms that address the evolving needs of M2M development.

The hardware side of the equation requires a toolkit, including reference platform, that developers can use as sandbox to write M2M applications.

. . . and The IoE Development Platform has both

The IoE Development Platform offers hardware and software for designing and building IoE-M2M devices with built-in cellular connectivity. Use the platform to quickly develop and test for a full range of applications:

  • Automotive, transportation and logistics
  • Smart energy and security
  • Industrial automation and enterprise
  • Consumer
  • Digital home
