Mi World PCS, a secure portable computer that fits in your hand

Myth Innovations’ Mi World™ PCS (short for “portable computing system”) is a secure, powerful server, personal cloud, and streaming media solution with a 30-hour battery life.

The Mi World PCS is powered by the Open-Q 8074 System on Module (SoM) from Lantronix, which features the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 processor, designed to provide outstanding computing performance, power efficiency and rich multimedia capabilities for a wide range of embedded computing applications.

The palm-sized MiWorld PCS, a 2015 CES Innovation awards honoree, does the work of a hefty desktop PC in an eight-ounce battery-powered package. In addition to its Snapdragon processor, it sports 2GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of onboard storage. It syncs wirelessly with tablets, laptops, and smartphones over a secure AES-encrypted Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection.

Funded in part through an Indiegogo campaign, the Mi World PCS was originally conceived to help Myth Innovations President and Founder Jim Luckett and his family stay productive—not to mention, entertained—on bi-weekly drives between Dallas and Houston, TX. With Mi World’s software loaded on their device, each individual can tap into a personal file, or multiple users can access the same shared file simultaneously.

On top of simple file-sharing, Mi World PCS gives new, enhanced life to the computing world by augmenting and extending the potential uses of our computers, tablets, smartphones, wearables, and other devices. Once connected, those devices can take advantage of the powerful Snapdragon 800, and utilize the extra space in the Mi World PCS hard drive. Smartphones, laptops, or tablets can act simply as monitors and input devices, while Mi World PCS plays the role of the workstation and handles the heavy lifting.

On the go, this strategy offers welcome relief to strained data plans and smartphone batteries. With scores of media stored on the Mi World PCS, users won’t need to eat up gigs of their data plan streaming content. And Mi World can support multiple streams and/or power-hungry apps for 30 hours on a single charge.

Mi World PCS also acts as a host for collaborative tasks. For example, colleagues can view and edit documents and presentations without syncing data between multiple devices. Or photographers can simplify their workflows by using Mi World to share image and video files with other computers and image editors on the fly.

The Mi World PCS is expected to be available in January; pre-orders are being accepted now at the Myth Innovations site.
