The much-lauded Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is finally arriving in the U.S. on July 17th, with pre-orders starting today, exclusive to Verizon Wireless customers. The tablet that Mashable described as having “beauty, brains and a beach body,” delivers on all three fronts.
Sony’s thinnest and lightest waterproof tablet yet weighs only 15.5 ounces, and measures just over a quarter-inch thick for the LTE variant. The 10.1-inch Full HD display has a pixel density of 224. Otherwise, the tablet maintains the aesthetic that Xperia devices have become known for: a slim rectangular black body, with sleek silver accents.
Running on a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 processor, the Z2 Tablet promises an immersive tablet experience, complete with access to a number of media services. Owners of the Z2 Tablet will gain 90 days free with Sony’s Music Unlimited, six movies through Video Unlimited, and an early download of “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” As for hardware, Verizon is also including free noise cancelling headphones with pre-orders while supplies last.
And let’s not forget another compelling reason to purchase the Z2 Tablet: its waterproof body. As Sony points out in this infographic, our on-the-go lifestyle produces more reasons each day for us to protect our phones from the elements. The Z2 Tablet is rated to withstand depths of five feet in freshwater for up to half an hour. Pick up a wall mount and that means you can catch last night’s episode in the shower before work. Your hot water will run out long before the battery.
The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet is available for preorder now on Verizon Wireless. The 4G LTE tablet costs $599.99, or $499.99 with a two year contract.
