Steve Mollenkopf officially took on the role of CEO this morning at the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting and Dr. Paul Jacobs became Executive Chairman of the Board.

Mollenkopf’s new role, in which he will assume overall responsibility for Qualcomm, including all lines of business and all functional groups in the Company, was announced in December. As Executive Chairman of the Board, Dr. Jacobs will focus on developing new technology and Qualcomm’s long-term opportunities.
At the meeting, Mollenkopf outlined four key areas of focus moving forward:
- Smartphones
- Wireless data challenges
- Adjacent markets
- Digital Sixth Sense
