The upcoming Dell XPS 10 is one of the first devices to take advantage of Microsoft's new, battery-efficient operating system, Windows RT. We had a chance to check it out.
Dell's XPS brand has always stood for high-performance, premium computing, yet the XPS 10 will be just $499 for the 32GB version. Want more storage? A 64 GB model is available for $100 more.
Both models feature a 10.1-inch touch display with 720p resolution. They're loaded with features you'd expect to find in a tablet, including two cameras (5 Megapixels on the back, 2 Megapixels on the front), advanced 802.11N Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a microSD slot.
The accessories are what give this tablet its business appeal. A dock, with a nearly full-sized keyboard and trackpad, is detachable and contains a USB and HDMI slot and a 31WH battery. The additional battery is arguably the most valuable part of this dock, as it works in tandem with the one built into the tablet. Combined, battery life is something you'll rarely have to worry about with the XPS 10.
Powering the XPS 10 is Snapdragon S4 Plus processor. It packs the processor essentials – a CPU, graphics chip, audio capabilities, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modem—into a single chip, helping the XPS 10 to be thin, light and powerful.
The Dell XPS 10 is available for pre-order and will ship in mid-December, just in time for the holidays.
