Next Up: Faster Snapdragon™ Single-CPU Smartphones & Tablets

Qualcomm was the first in the industry to deliver a 1GHz processor for smartphones. We are again at the forefront with the announcements by HP and HTC for the first mobile devices powered by our latest Snapdragon single-CPU processor, the MSM8x55 chipset.

This Snapdragon mobile processor not only offers CPU speeds above 1GHz, but also includes the Adreno 205 GPU and hardware-accelerated multimedia to maximize performance and extend battery life while delivering a full web and HD video experience. And add to that HSPA+ for faster wireless connectivity.

Palm Pre3The first MSM8x55 smartphone was announced on February 9th when HP introduced the Pre3 smartphone running HP webOS. The Pre³ with its large 3.58-inch touchscreen, fast 1.4-GHz CPU and a full slide-out keyboard is a multitasking professional workhorse that’s perfectly balanced for speed and serious fun.

HTC FlyerThe following week at MWC, HTC announced their first tablet, the HTC Flyer™ with HTC Sense™, a compact and powerful tablet with CPU speeds up to 1.5GHz. At less than 15 ounces and 7” display, the HTC Flyer harnesses the power of the Snapdragon processor with Adobe Flash support, multi-window browsing with pinch to zoom, and a clever quick look-up that lets you tap into Wikipedia, YouTube and other web resources. The HTC Flyer is slated to be available in Q2 globally while the HP Pre³ is targeted for summer.

The next generation of powerful Snapdragon-based smartphones and tablets powered by a high-performance single-CPU, GPU, hardware-accelerated multimedia and HD are coming soon — so be on the look out.
