The IT8987 directly interfaces to the LPC bus and provides ACPI embedded controller function, keyboard controller (KBC) and matrix scan, PWM and ADC for hardware monitor, PS/2 interface for external keyboard/mouse devices, BRAM, CIR, and system wakeup functions for system power management.

The NPCX99nF is targeted for a wide range of portable applications and provides best-in-class, complete EC functionality, using firmware from the SPI flash. The NPCX99nF incorporates an on-chip ROM, standard and battery-back RAM memories, and extended set of system support functions, and a high-performance Flash Interface Unit (FIU), which interfaces directly with internal and external SPI flash memory devices. In addition, the NCPX99nF includes a SHA hardware accelerator and a library in the on-chip ROM, which supports SHA256/384/512 hashing. For best performance and security, code is executed from the on-chip, protected SRAM. It is loaded on boot from the internal 512KB/1MB flash. The NPCX99nF family devices include power switch logic for ultra-low power consumption. In addition, the devices support a 32 KHz crystal oscillator.
