Qualcomm and Readboy Announce Unique 4G Kids Watch to Power Next Generation Learning

At Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), with Zhongshan Readboy Electronics Co. Ltd (Readboy), announced the W8, Readboy’s latest 4G kids learning smartwatch based on the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100 platform.

The new Readboy W8 is a unique smartwatch for kids that combines family communication capabilities with fun learning experiences. In addition to voice calls and messaging, kids can easily interact with their watch by asking questions, and the watch answers back using a knowledge base of over 100,000 fundamental questions and answers. The watch can also teach kids fundamental language skills in Chinese and English, narrate stories and sing songs, and the embedded 2-megapixel camera provides children with the ability to share images from their unique perspective.

The Readboy W8 is one of the first kids learning smartwatches powered by the Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform. It supports 4G connectivity, in addition to indoor and outdoor positioning through a combination of Wi-Fi®, global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and 4G location triangulation techniques, and provides access to a wide range of Readboy content. The Readboy W8 uses an optimized version of Android, thus delivering a sleek 4G kid watch with extended battery life.
