Qualcomm Announces Leadership Change in Japan

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the appointment of Jim Cathey as vice president and president of Qualcomm Japan, effective immediately. Cliff Ficke, who served as vice president and president of Qualcomm Japan since May 2012, will transition to senior advisor.

 “I would like to thank Cliff for his leadership and contributions to business in Japan since joining Qualcomm in 2011,” said Cristiano Amon, executive vice president and co-president of QCT. “I am pleased to announce Jim’s appointment. Jim’s extensive experience in the creation, implementation and management of localized strategies in the technology industry will drive further growth of business of Qualcomm in Japan.”

Prior to this appointment, Cathey led the QMT (Qualcomm MEMS Technologies) Taiwan organization as well as sales and business development functions as vice president of business development. Prior to joining QMT, Cathey served as a senior executive at various display companies, including Micron Technology and MicroDisplay, as well as served as the head of Investor Relations for PixTech. He has provided strategic business consulting services to companies such as DuPont Display, DuPont PhotoMask and Applied Materials. Cathey holds a bachelor's of business administration in marketing from Boise State University.
