Qualcomm to Expand DSP Partner Program and Hexagon Access Program

Move will Enable Independent Software Developers to Participate Directly

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of wireless technologies, today announced that in response to recent requests from independent software developers it intends to expand its DSP Partner Program and Hexagon™ Access Program to enable them to participate directly in the programs. As a result of this expansion, Qualcomm would provide information and development tools to enable handset providers and independent software developers to develop code, including code that would have functionality similar to the Company’s MMV code, that could run on the Company’s QDSP5 and QDSP6 (“Hexagon”) digital signal processors in the Company’s baseband chips. Qualcomm anticipates that these programs would cover a select group of the Company’s baseband chip solutions that incorporate such QDSP5 and QDSP6 processors.

“Qualcomm’s product portfolio includes, among other things, multiple baseband chipsets which integrate either our QDSP5 or QDSP6 processors, which are an important factor in the overall performance our products deliver,” said Steven Brightfield, director of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “We look forward to expanding our DSP Partner Program and Hexagon Access Program during the coming months.”

Qualcomm intends to begin licensing development tools and other program deliverables to DSP Partner Program participants during the coming months. For the Hexagon Access Program, Qualcomm anticipates that it will begin licensing development tools and other program deliverables in conjunction with the commercial release of the supported chips. Licensing fees for participating in the programs will depend upon the number of chip models for which participants seek to develop code.
