Networks In Motion™ Delivers BREW™-Based Location-Enabled Solutions Powered by Qualcomm’S QPoint™ and gpsOne™ Technologies

Networks In Motion’s AtlasBook™ on BREW™ for gpsOne-Enabled Mobile Phones is Winner of Wireless LBS Challenge at CTIA 2004

Networks In Motion™, a wireless software solutions provider for mobile workforce management and location-based services (LBS), today announced AtlasBook™ and PhoneLocator™ solutions developed for Qualcomm’S BREW solution, which take advantage of Qualcomm’s QPoint location services solution and precision gpsOne location handset technology.

Networks In Motion’s AtlasBook on BREW solution was the grand prize winner at the Wireless LBS Challenge presented by NAVTEQ, formerly Navigation Technologies, and SiRF Technology. Both Networks In Motion’s AtlasBook and PhoneLocator solutions were finalists at the event. The challenge was held in conjunction with the CTIA Wireless 2004 conference in Atlanta, March 22-24.

AtlasBook’s location-enabled features include real-time turn-by-turn directions, full-color, high-quality maps of the user’s location, and Yellow Pages to search for places nearby. These features work together to simplify travel planning, save time on the road and make mobile life more productive. AtlasBook transforms the cell phone into a personalized travel guide, providing simplicity, certainty and security.

PhoneLocator provides a simple and convenient way for users to keep track of their cell phone. With the click of a button on PhoneLocator’s secure Web site, the location of the cell phone is displayed on a map, and users can get directions to or from the phone’s location. PhoneLocator is easy to set up, and operates on the phone in the background, while offering users full control of their GPS privacy settings.

“AtlasBook and PhoneLocator offer a complete set of wireless, precision location-based services that are seamlessly integrated into the BREW system, offering a reliable, stable solution that can greatly enhance mobile users’ productivity and convenience,” said Michael Sheha, president and COO of Networks In Motion.

“As the only company to submit BREW-based applications for NAVTEQ’s LBS Challenge at CTIA 2004, we’re very pleased that Networks In Motion was able to win the competition.” said Mike Yuen, director of BREW developer relations for Qualcomm Internet Services. “Location-based content will be one of the most popular applications for gpsOne-enabled phones in the wireless space for consumer and mobile workforce markets, and AtlasBook and PhoneLocator take advantage of Qualcomm’s QPoint solution and gpsOne technology to provide subscribers with an exciting range of precision location-based capabilities and features.”

Qualcomm’s QPoint location services solution and gpsOne client technology provide the most complete server/client compatible mass-market location services solution available today. With the QPoint solution, Qualcomm provides operators with flexible delivery options for location services – either through a hosted model or through channel partners. The QPoint solution leverages Qualcomm’s gpsOne technology which offers robust data availability under the most challenging conditions.

gpsOne technology is the world’s most broadly deployed Assisted-GPS handset technology. More than 25 million wireless consumers around the world are being supported today by some 100 different gpsOne-enabled handset models, and more than 140 precision LBS applications.

Qualcomm’s BREW systems provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.
