Qualcomm's Dr. Daniel L. Sullivan Named 2001 HR Executive of the Year

SAN DIEGO -- October 22, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced that Dr. Daniel L. Sullivan, executive vice president of Human Resources for Qualcomm, has been named the 2001 Human Resources Executive of the Year by Human Resource Executive magazine. Dr. Sullivan was recognized on October 17 during an awards dinner.

The criteria for this honor included: the candidate's ability to handle significant problems or obstacles in the human resource field; the candidate's role and/or success in establishing the human resource function as an integral part of his or her organization; the candidate's management skills as demonstrated within the human resource function; and his or her contributions to the human resources profession as a whole.

Dr. Sullivan joined Qualcomm in 1992 and is currently responsible for all human resources functions at Qualcomm including: organization planning, compensation, benefits, learning, employee relations, corporate giving, staffing and leadership development for the Company's 6500 employees worldwide. Sullivan holds a doctorate degree in Organizational Communication from the University of Nebraska. He also holds bachelor of science and master of arts degrees in Communication from Illinois State University and West Virginia University respectively.
