Qualcomm Promotes Ben Miller to Senior Vice President and Chief Patent Strategist

SAN DIEGO

SAN DIEGO -- October 31, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the promotion of Ben Miller to senior vice president and chief patent strategist for Qualcomm. Miller has helped create and shape Qualcomm's intellectual property policy and patent portfolio for more than a decade. In this new position, Miller will expand his leadership role to continue upholding Qualcomm's patents worldwide.

"Ben Miller has been instrumental in his contributions to Qualcomm's intellectual property portfolio and in shaping the Company's intellectual property policy," said Louis Lupin, senior vice president and general counsel for Qualcomm. "We look forward to his continued efforts in his expanded role as senior vice president and chief patent strategist."

Miller was one of Qualcomm's first outside patent lawyers and then joined Qualcomm as its first Patent Counsel in early 1990. Miller holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Dayton and a law degree from the University of San Diego.
