Qualcomm Promotes Peggy Johnson to President of Qualcomm Internet Services

SAN DIEGO -- August 28, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the promotion of Peggy Johnson to president of Qualcomm Internet Services (QIS), a division of Qualcomm and part of the Wireless and Internet Group, focused on the next generation of wireless applications and services that will combine data and voice capabilities to better suit consumers' needs in a converged wireless Internet world. Ms. Johnson will expand her leadership role to focus on promoting and advancing the business initiatives for the Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless™ (BREW™) applications platform.

Johnson began her career at Qualcomm in 1989 as a software engineer within Qualcomm's OmniTRACS® division. She held several positions within OmniTRACS, including director of business development and vice president of technology. She joined Qualcomm Consumer Products (QCP) in 1997 as vice president of business development and was appointed vice president of sales shortly thereafter. Johnson was named senior vice president of sales for QCP in April 2000 and took on additional responsibilities of marketing for Kyocera Wireless in a transitional role after the sale of QCP to Kyocera Wireless.

Prior to joining Qualcomm, Johnson worked as an engineer for General Electric's Military Electronics Division. She holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from San Diego State University.
