Qualcomm to Acquire Assets of Simac

San Diego -- November 9, 1999 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced that it has acquired various assets of Simac Mobile Solutions bv, Triptech International bv, Simac Techniq Ltd, and Simac Technic NV, located in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. As part of the acquisition, Simac Mobile Solutions' workforce, including engineering, administration and management, will transfer to Qualcomm Netherlands bv.

"By combining Simac's well engineered and market-tested product, and extensive industry knowledge, along with Qualcomm's worldwide wireless expertise, we are confident we can bring the right solution, at the right price, to the European transportation industry."

Developer of Logiq™ Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) and Logic Mobile Digital Assistant, Simac Mobile Solutions is the market leader of modular on-board computer systems for companies with field staff. The Logiq family of on-board computers is specially designed for vehicle applications and mobile workers where real-time communication between the field and homebase is required. In addition to the Logiq products, Simac Mobile Solutions developed a suite of fleet management software including TripPlan®, Trip Track® and TripLog®. The variety of software products allow fleets to have real-time routing and scheduling, fleet management and reliable data communications.

With more than 300,000 units sold worldwide, Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions develops, manufactures and sells a variety of fleet management solutions real-time messaging, communications and position reporting between fleets and their operations centers.
