Qualcomm Announces Operational Test Software Providing IS-95B 64 kpbs Data Rates

NEW ORLEANS -- September 22, 1999 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) today announced an operational test software package for the Qualcomm Thin Phone that supports IS-95B 64 kbps data rates. Qualcomm is evaluating the software for possible future implementation in current and upcoming Qualcomm products. The capability to support 64 kbps data rates represents a greater than fourfold increase over the current CDMA data rate of 14.4 kbps, allowing faster and more flexible access to email and the Internet for consumers.
