Qualcomm to Sponsor San Diego Symphony Summer Pops

Qualcomm Incorporated has signed on to sponsor the San Diego Symphony Summer Pops, the eight-week, outdoor series that will mark the return of the symphonic music to San Diego, according to Thomas Gerdom, interim president and chief executive officer.

"The return of the Symphony is made that much brighter by Qualcomm's corporate support," said Gerdom. "This sponsorship bodes well for our efforts to build a strong base of business support as we move through the summer and into our fall season."

"Qualcomm is excited to be a sponsor of a new San Diego Symphony Summer Pops series," said Dr. Irwin Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of Qualcomm. "The Symphony's Summer Pops has always been an integral part of our arts community and particularly attractive to gatherings of families and friends. We have missed it and are pleased to provide support to ensure that the community this year will enjoy the full San Diego Symphony Summer Pops."

The Summer Pops, a traditional, light-classical favorite that appeals to a wide range of musical tastes, begins with a Tchaikovsky program on Friday, July 24, and concludes on Sept.11 and 12 with Fiesta Mariachi!. Tickets range from $10 to $40 and can be obtained through TicketMaster by calling 619/220-TIXS.
