Wi-Fi has become the essential backbone of enterprises, powering mission-critical applications and experiences — from retail stores enhancing customer experiences through seamless connectivity to manufacturing plants streamlining operations with real-time data. Wi-Fi infrastructure is not just a necessity but a strategic asset. It enables enhanced productivity, collaboration and innovation. But how do wireless networks keep delivering in a world where connected devices, applications, use cases and security threats are constantly evolving?

To meet these ever-evolving demands and unlock the full potential of wireless technology, Cisco has introduced its highly anticipated portfolio of Wi-Fi 7 access points at Cisco Live 2024 in Melbourne. Developed in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and leveraging the Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms, the Cisco Wireless 9178 and 9176 Series Access Points deliver Wi-Fi 7 with faster and more resilient connections, AI-native intelligence, and advanced wireless security.

Superior speed and capacity

The rapid increase in Internet of Things (IoT) devices, AI-powered applications and data-intensive services are driving enterprises to seek connectivity that can handle large volumes of data, with minimal latency and maximum speed. These demands are met by employing advanced 4K QAM modulation techniques, maximizing the 6GHz spectrum with double the channel widths (320MHz) and employing multiple links.

This results in significantly higher speeds and reduced delay, enabling businesses to access and transfer data smoothly and efficiently, to support seamless operations and boost productivity.

Resilience

As networks grow denser and more diverse, congestion increasingly becomes a challenge. Advanced features such as Multi-Link Operation (MLO) and preamble puncturing are designed to navigate these congested environments and sustain peak performance even under the most strenuous conditions.

This enhanced resilience is vital for enterprises that rely on continuous, uninterrupted connectivity to maintain smooth and efficient operations. Additionally, these innovations unlock new possibilities by advancing wireless networks to seamlessly support mission-critical applications. Whether in healthcare where every second counts or manufacturing plants where real-time data is vital for operational efficiency, the latest generation of access points offer the reliability and performance needed to support these critical functions.

Airtight security

As the number of devices, people and applications connecting to the networks grows, so does the risk of potential threats. The inclusion of the latest generation Wi-Fi security, WPA3 and enhanced Protected Management Frames (PMF) enables, more secure connections between devices. With a dedicated scan radio, Wi-Fi channels are also monitored for potential hazards to deliver a comprehensive understanding and defense of the wireless environment.

AI-native intelligence

With AI built into every layer, Cisco's AI-enhanced Radio Resource Management (RRM) technology can tailor radio configurations for any scenario or density, from indoor to outdoor and industrial settings. Maximizing radio configurations and performance, the access points ensure consistently exceptional experiences while anticipating and preventing digital disruptions through ongoing insights and predictive recommendations.
